Many people steer away from straight shank hooks because the worms tend to slide down the bait easily. However straight shank hooks offer a better chance of hooking the fish due to the angle of the hook. There is a way to keep the worms (or whatever plastic you rig on it) from sliding down your hook. Its both easy and inexpensive. Watch our video and you will learn how easy it is. You will be fishing straight shank hooks and putting more fish in the boat after you watch this video.
Rigging soft plastic worms right can help your bait look more natural to the fish. Straight tail worms like finesse worms and stick baits are worms you want to make sure are straight out of the package and when you rig them. Texas rig, carolina rig, drop shot, weightless, and other techniques are all ways to catch fish, but rigging your bait on there just right can catch you even more fish.
do u tend to go thru more plastics with the straight shank because of the barb by the eye?
NICE TIP
I don’t think the worm twirling on the fall is necessarily a bad thing…isn’t that why people like tubes? Because they spiral as they fall? Many people feel that the spiraling fall of a tube is what catches bass because it looks extremely erratic. That being said, I don’t know if a twirling, spiraling worm is such a bad thing.
Will this work when beach fishing?
dude i saw u on big bass battle on tv on lake fork good jod that lil kid was pretty good to
i had know idea a worm was suppose to go side to side like that on the way down, that’s freakin’ cool! I gotta get out and try that in the morning. Great Video… once again, thanks!
